Why I Chose a Life Reset at 37
I didn’t leave London in a blaze of glory. After seven years working in construction—chasing paychecks and slowly losing my spark—I left quietly. That quiet exit marked the beginning of my life reset at 37: a deliberate choice to quit everything, travel solo through Asia, and search for meaning beyond the daily grind.
This wasn’t about escape. It was about starting over with purpose.
Some might call quitting your job to travel impulsive or reckless. For me, it was survival. I wasn’t running away—I was walking toward something more aligned, something real.
I didn’t have a perfect plan or checklist. But I knew clarity wouldn’t come from another grey morning commute or another month behind a desk in London. I wasn’t chasing beautiful sunsets for Instagram. I was chasing freedom, clarity, and intentional living.
And where did I find that meaning? Not in the famous landmarks. Not in the highlights. But in the in-between: long, meditative bus rides; quiet breakfasts in guesthouses; the subtle hum of unfamiliar cities waking up around me.
Solo Travel and Midlife Reinvention: My Life Reset at 37
I’ve been travelling solo for 18 years. Different countries. Different continents. I’ve slept on airport floors, shared meals with strangers, gotten lost in mountain towns and mega-cities alike. But this trip? It’s different.
Because this time, I’m not just moving—I’m transforming. The intention is deeper. It’s not just sightseeing—it’s personal growth through travel.
Midlife reinvention through solo travel doesn’t look like hitting reset on a video game. It seems like asking harder questions. It looks like being alone with your thoughts in a foreign country and being okay with the silence.
Most people think life is already “figured out” by the time you’re in your mid-30s. But what if you want to change the script? What if you realise that your life was designed by default, not by choice?
That’s where the power of starting over in midlife comes in. It’s not about erasing your past. It’s about choosing your future more deliberately. Not to escape—but to evolve.
The Truth About Building a YouTube Channel From Scratch
There’s a narrative in the online space that success comes quickly if you just “stay consistent” or “follow the algorithm.” But when you’re building something meaningful, from the ground up, with no team and no shortcuts, it takes time. And heart.
I’m documenting my journey on YouTube through a series called Life Goldprints. Every episode is handcrafted—cinematic visuals, layered sound design, and personal stories.
My last video took over two weeks to produce. I filmed across different locations, edited frame by frame, colour graded in DaVinci Resolve, and fine-tuned every audio cue. The final result? Just over 100 views.
But here’s the thing: I’m still proud of it.
Because this isn’t about chasing numbers. It’s about creating something honest. Something that reflects my truth. If you’re dreaming of being a digital nomad at 37 or starting a YouTube channel without connections or capital, know this: everyone begins with zero. Every meaningful creator was unknown once.
You don’t have to go viral to be valuable.
Solo Travel at 37: The Honest Side of Life Reset Adventures
Forget the glossy fantasy. Travel content online often shows mountaintops, infinity pools, and perfect street food shots. But when you’re doing it—living out of a backpack, navigating language barriers, sweating through three t-shirts a day—it hits differently.
Yes, there are magical moments: A quiet sunrise over a temple. A deep conversation with a stranger. A hike that leaves you breathless in more ways than one.
But there’s also:
- Food poisoning at the worst time.
- Delayed buses.
- Check-ins that take hours.
- Nights spent re-editing videos while fighting off mosquitoes.
Travelling in your 30s isn’t about endless adventure. It’s about balance, awareness, and reconnection.
You begin to notice differently, value comfort more, and choose depth over thrill. You’re less interested in doing it for the ’gram and more interested in doing it for yourself.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
1. Solo travel is about discipline, not freedom.
Some days, you’re exploring ancient cities. Other days, you’re just budgeting in a café, fixing captions, and backing up footage.
2. The journey is emotional, not just physical.
Travel brings things to the surface—old fears, limiting beliefs, and your true desires. It becomes a mirror.
3. You define what meaningful travel looks like.
It doesn’t need to be dramatic. Sometimes, the most powerful moments are quiet ones—deciding to stay another week, smiling at someone across a language you don’t speak, cooking dinner in a stranger’s kitchen.
